Starring Alia Bhatt, Jigra tells the emotional story of Satyabhama, a young woman who is determined to protect her family’s honour after a tragedy. Her quick thinking and courage lead her to save the people she cares about the most from a dangerous situation.
On the action front, directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2: The Rule broke Hindi box office records, becoming the first film to gross ₹700 crore and the first film to gross ₹800 crore in Hindi, taking the worldwide collection to ₹1642 crore. A grand historical drama starring Vicky Kaushal as Sambhaji Maharaj, Chhawaa mesmerised the audience with its portrayal of bravery, politics and heritage. Released in February 2025, it became the highest-grossing Indian film of the year, grossing up to ₹809 crore and earning its place among the highest-grossing Hindi films of all time.
Stree 2
Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatan (meaning Stree 2: Terror of the Headless) is a 2024 Hindi comedy-horror film. Amar Kaushik directs it, and Niren Bhatt writes it. Madoc Films and Jio Studios jointly produced the film. It is the sequel to Stree (2018), which launched Madoc into the horror-comedy world. It is also the fourth film in the series.
The film stars Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana as friends fighting against Sarkate, a headless ghost who kidnaps women in Chanderi. Sarkate also encounters Stree. Tamannaah Bhatia and Varun Dhawan return in important roles as their characters from Bhediya.
Kaushik shared plans for Stree 2 in October 2018. In February 2022, Rajkummar Rao confirmed that the film was being made. But the original producers Raj and DK left the film after a rights dispute with Dinesh Vijan.
Later, Niren Bhatt, who wrote Bhediya (2022) and Munjya (2024), took over the script. Dinesh Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande announced the film in April 2023. The film’s shooting began in July 2023 in Chanderi and Bihar and was completed by mid-2024. Sachin-Jigar composed the songs, and Justin Varghese replaced Ketan Sodha for the background music. Jishnu Bhattacharya handled the camera work, and Hemanti Sarkar handled the editing.
Baahubali 2
S.S. Rajamouli directed Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, a sequel to Baahubali: The Beginning (2015). Starring Prabhas and Rana Daggubati, it became the highest-grossing Indian film upon its release. It grossed ₹1744 crore worldwide, with strong business in China and Japan.
Jigra
Jigra in Satyabhama “Satya” Anand (Alia Bhatt) faces many struggles from a young age. She witnesses her father Mr. Anand (Pranav Brar) end his life and prevents her brother Ankur (Vedang Raina) from seeing it. After losing both her parents, a wealthy but distant relative, Mr. Mehtani, takes them in. Satya remembers that they are living there because of someone’s help, so she works as the house manager, keeping the family’s secrets safe.
When Mr. Mehtani’s nephew Nakul plans to elope with his maid Kavita before her wedding, Satya steps in. He tells Nakul that the bride’s father has 24 police cases and that he can harm Kavita. He convinces him to marry him and advises Kavita to take up a job in London for safety.
Pushpa 2
Sukumar directs Pushpa 2: The Rule, a sequel to Pushpa: The Rise (2021). Starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil, the film broke Hindi box office records and became the first Indian film to gross over ₹700 crore and ₹800 crore in Hindi.
The Telugu action film grossed ₹1642 crore worldwide, making it one of the biggest Indian hits of all time.
Chhaava
Chhaava (meaning “lion’s cub”) is a 2025 Hindi historical action film about Sambhaji Maharaj, the second king of the Maratha Empire, starring Vicky Kaushal. It is based on the Marathi book Chhaav written by Shivaji Sawant. Laxman Utekar is directing it, and Dinesh Vijan is producing it under Medok Films. Akshaye Khanna and Rashmika Mandanna also play lead roles.
The makers began pre-production in April 2023, began filming in October 2023, and completed its shooting in May 2024. A. R. Rahman composed the music and background score, and Irshad Kamil wrote the lyrics with Kshitij Patwardhan.
The film, which was released on 14 February 2025 in both normal and IMAX formats, received positive reviews, although some questioned the historical details. It grossed between ₹797.34 crore (US$94 million) and ₹809 crore (US$96 million), becoming the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025 and the top Hindi film of the year. It has now emerged as the eighth-highest-grossing Hindi film and the thirteenth-highest-grossing Indian film.
